Title: We Were Liars
Author: E. Lockhart
Publisher: Random House
Pub. Date: May 13, 2014
Genre: YA
Rec. Age Level: 14+

After an extended absence, Cady Sinclair returns to the private island on which she and her cousins have spent the summers of their childhood. A mysterious accident has left Cady prone to illness and confusion... She remembers little of the accident, and her family is far from forthcoming about the details. This summer is different, but there are undeniable constants in the life of a Sinclair: privilege, secrets, and the unbreakable bond of family.

Wow. I don't think I can find accurate words to describe how powerful and utterly captivating this newest novel from Lockhart is, which is probably a good thing because the first rule of Liars Club is that you do not talk about Liars Club.

My best advice for the enjoyment of this novel, is to go into it knowing as little as possible and simply immerse yourself in the experience. Then, when you’ve finished it, hand it to the next person you see with explicit instructions to read it and report back. Because you are desperately going to want someone to discuss it with.

E. Lockhart is already beloved among YA readers, however there is an excellent chance that this book will complete Lockhart’s path to becoming a household name.  WE WERE LIARS has that book club shine to it, as well as a cinematic quality that is sure to appeal to the masses. Early fans will surely be heard proclaiming hipster-esque statements like "I read that so long ago, where have you been?!" Don't get left behind; pick up this book immediately.
