Cover Reveal & Giveaway: My Best Friend, Maybe by Caela Carter

Today I have the pleasure of revealing the cover of MY BEST FRIEND, MAYBE, the sophomore novel from author Caela Carter! I loved Caela's debut, ME, HIM, THEM & IT, a contemporary YA novel that tackles teen pregnancy with honesty and tact!

Technically, this is a cover (re)reveal because Caela, Bloomsbury, and I released the original cover concept for this book back in October 2013. Since then, Bloomsbury decided to rework the cover, giving the two girls featured in the cover art a more "dynamic" pose. Things that have stayed the same: the color palate and the number of girls on the cover. Things that have changed: a lot.

On this reworked cover, the girls are shown from a distance and they aren't headless (win!). They're wearing different outfits (still cute, but not as cute as the dresses in the original). The title is in different colors (though the font looks the same to me). The location of the title and the author's name have changed as well (for the better, in my opinion). And, instead of being surrounded by water, the girls are surrounded the bright blue sky!

If Bloomsbury was going for more "dynamic," they nailed it! While I have a soft spot for the original cover (the dresses the cover models were wearing were so dang cute!), I like this one too... especially when I realized that I couldn't immediately think of another cover that is similar. That's important when it comes to YA, a genre in which cover art can sometimes blur together!

Check out the new cover and learn more about the book below!

My Best Friend, Maybe by Caela Carter
Bloomsbury / Available June 3, 2014
Colette has been bored and lonely ever since her best friend, Sadie, dumped her the summer before they stared high school. She tries to be perfect for everyone left in her life: her parents, her younger brothers, her church youth group, even her boyfriend, Mark. But Colette is restless. And she misses Sadie.

When Sadie tells Colette that she needs her old friend to join her on a family vacation to the Greek Islands, one that leaves in only a few days, Colette is shocked to hear their old magic word: need. And she finds herself agreeing.

Colette tries to relax and enjoy her Grecian surroundings but it’s not easy to go on vacation with the person who hurt you most in the world. When the reason for the trip finally surfaces, Colette finds out this is not only a fun vacation. Sadie has kept an enormous secret from Colette for years...forever. It’s a summer full of surprises, but that might be what Colette needs.

Cover Reveal: Mortal Gods (Goddess War #2) by Kendare Blake

So I'm a huge fan of Kendare Blake and her books. I mean, really, she's awesome and so are her books... which is pretty great because, honestly, it is not always a given that skilled novelists are kind and fabulous people too! Last year I read, Antigoddess, the first installment of Kendare's Goddess Wars trilogy, which I loved. Not only did it have a stunning cover, the story - a striking combination of timeless mythology and a contemporary setting - wowed me. Check out my review for proof!

Obviously, I'm looking forward to book 2, Mortal Gods, which releases September 1st! When I found out that the publisher decided to change the cover art for the paperback version of Antigoddess, I was disappointed, but then it grew on me. There's a fierceness to this new cover - and the cover of the second book - that was missing from the original. I'm glad I have my hardcover copy with the original art to pet, but I'm happy with this new direction as well!

Okay, I've rambled enough! Check out the cover of Mortal Gods below... and don't forget to chime in down in the comments section with your thoughts!!

Add it on Goodreads!

Thoughts on the new paperback version of Antigoddess versus the original hardcover design?

Cover Reveal: Feral by Holly Schindler

Today, I'm so excited to be one of the bloggers sharing the cover of Holly Schindler's newest YA book Feral! Holly is the author of the YA titles A Blue So Dark and Playing Hurt, plus the recently released MG novel, The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky!
___________________________________

About Feral:

Coming from HarperCollins August 26, 2014.
It’s too late for you. You’re dead.

Those words float through Claire Cain’s head as she lies broken and barely alive after a brutal beating. And the words continue to haunt her months later, in the relentless, terrifying nightmares that plague her sleep. So when her father is offered a teaching sabbatical in another state, Claire is hopeful that getting out of Chicago, away from the things that remind her of what she went through, will offer a way to start anew.

But when she arrives in Peculiar, Missouri, Claire quickly realizes something is wrong—the town is brimming with hidden dangers and overrun by feral cats. And her fears are confirmed when a popular high school girl, Serena Sims, is suddenly found dead in the icy woods behind the school. While everyone is quick to say Serena died in an accident, Claire knows there’s more to it—for she was the one who found Serena, battered and most certainly dead, surrounded by the town’s feral cats.

Now Claire vows to learn the truth about what happened, but the closer she gets to uncovering the mystery, the closer she also gets to discovering a frightening reality about herselfand the damage she truly sustained in that Chicago alley. . . .

With an eerie setting and heart-stopping twists and turns, Holly Schindler weaves a gripping story that will make you question everything you think you know.

There are so many little things I love about this cover...

1. The tagline combined with the title allude to the weird feral cat business in the description

2. The tagline plus the creepy bluriness of the cover evoke a sinister atmosphere. It kind of reminds of the blurry scenes in movies when a character is panicking and trying to escape something threatening.

3. The author byline and the tagline are in pink, which I think will really pop on the finished book!

What do you think? Like? Dislike? Are you as excited to read this one as I am!? Be sure to add it on Goodreads too!

Cover Reveal: Embers & Ash by Ted Goeglein

Have you seen the cover of Embers & Ash by Ted Goeglein!? It's the final installment in the Cold Fury trilogy from Penguin Books, coming in August 2014! This final installment looks just as badass as the first two books. I love these covers. I think they're a much better fit than the original for the hardcover of Cold Fury. These showcase just how strong and intense Sara Jane is!

More about Embers & Ash
Sara Jane Rispoli is on the wrong side of the Russian mob, but closer to finding her family than ever. And she's willing to do whatever it takes to finally end this terrible journey even if the price is her own life.

The very cold fury that has seen her through the worst of her troubles is now killing her; she knows the cure, but she can't sacrifice the deadly electricity until she's rescued her family. But when she finally does rescue them, it's not the happy reunion she pictured. And the torment doesn't stop there, not even when she finally discovers Ultimate Power. Only destroying the Outfit completely can end this terrible nightmare.

Old enemies return to seek vengeance, double-crosses abound, and even more mysteries are uncovered as we rocket toward an end no one saw coming.

(Book II, FLICKER & BURN, is out now!) You can find out more about Ted and his books here!

Cover Reveal: Finding It by Cora Carmack

Yesterday, the cover of Cora Carmack's upcoming New Adult novel was released! I have a soft spot for her covers... Check it out below:

About the book:
Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She's having the time of her life...or that's what she keeps telling herself.
It's a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you're afraid you won't like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey's loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey's mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.
Finding It releases October 1st, 2013!

COVER REVEAL: Flicker & Burn by T.M. Goeglein (Cold Fury #2)

To top off the super special 12/12/12, I present you with a two-for-one cover reveal…

Cold Fury, by T.M. Goeglein, has been redesigned, as well as the second installment in the Cold Fury trilogy…Flicker & Burn! Cold Fury will be released in paperback June 2013… and Flicker & Burn comes roaring onto the scene in August 2013!

Loved Cold Fury? Here's a look at what to expect from the action-packed sequel:

The thrill ride that began in Cold Fury kicks into high gear in Flicker & Burn, as the threats to Sara Jane Rispoli come at her from all directions. She continues the desperate search for her missing family, but this time she’s on the run from creepy beings with red, pulsing eyes and ghostly white skin chasing her through the streets of Chicago in black ice cream trucks – they can only be described as Ice Cream Creatures. They're skeletal and ferocious, hell-bent on catching or killing her, but also a weird link to her family, a clue to where they might be and who has them.

While Sara Jane battles these new pursuers, she learns painful lessons about the phenomenon that possesses her, cold fury. At the same time, she’s uncovering buried secrets about the misdeeds of her family – old murders and blood vendettas – that might be connected to the disappearance of her mom, dad, and brother. The mysteries, violence, and constant state of chasing or being chased could be the undoing of her relationship with handsome Max Kissberg. Despite the love growing between them, Sara Jane can’t tell him the truth about her life, and fears for his safety.

Not only do the Ice Cream Creatures display the grisly amputated finger of her mom to prove their viciousness, and not only does Lucky, the Outfit Boss of Bosses, whistle in Sara Jane for a sit-down with deadly consequences, but her gorgeous cousin, Heather Richards, enters the scene, as well. All that matters to Sara Jane is saving her family and keeping everyone she loves alive and safe. But the forces she encounters, both external and the ones crackling inside of her, fight her every step of the way.

Now’s your chance…win an ARC of Flicker & Burn as soon as it’s available! Just fill out the handy Rafflecopter form below:
