I think that the Golden Gate bridge is also a gateway to the Faery realm. If you go through the gate the right way, you will end up in the *mystical* land of faery realm! : )

ReplyDeleteBy where I live, there's this storage place for unused sewer tubes. They are huge and clean and amazing, and they seem so magical to me. I am SURE that they are a gateway to the faery realm!

In New Orleans we have a park similar but not as grande as Central Park, called City Park. City Park was under water during Katrina, but it is now being brought back to life. Luckily all the old oaks survived and they are what makes the park what it is. It is the perfect place for fairies.

There is a place where my friends and I go rock climbing called Niagara Glen near Niagara Falls in Ontario. It's beautiful and tucked away near the falls. We always joke around that it is a magical faerie land! :)

I think there's a portal in the Downtown LA Library. I always feel a special vibe in LA. The building is relatively old and has always held magic for me. :)

A good gateway umm... Well in Montreal we have this mountain right in the middle of town called Mont Royal, and it's actually a very old estinguish volcano. I guess it could be a very kool gateway, and a place of power =)

A great place to hide a gateway would be the Florida Everglades, although you'd have to watch out for the gators.

I, from personal experience think a place I used to play as a teenager could be a gateway. My friends and I would go down and play at a stream and there was an island in the middle of it. It was all natural, and magickal. Totally think that could be a gateway.

ReplyDeleteThis is going to sound utterly nerdy of me, but I'm okay with that. Around Alpena, Michigan there is a karst formation called an "earth crack". I went into it about 5 years ago. The temperature is about 40 degrees cooler than the air around it. It's just a really cool place and I could sooooo see it being a portal.

ReplyDeleteOoh! My friend has a backyard that leads to the woods and during the day, we would go there and just hang out. It also feels peaceful there because of the view of the lake nearby :) I like it there.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we lived in the country and we had this little fort that was really just a bunch of rocks stacked up so we could sit down and couldn't be seen from the house, but I always thought those woods were magical so I can a gateway being tucked into a small cave overgrown with vines and moss... very mystical lol...
I think a gateway could be in this crazy cave thingy on the beach nearish my house. It's really big and there is a rock shaped like a turtle near it, so I know something must be going down there.

ReplyDeleteI would have to say the the Bernheim Forest here in Kentucky. It is beautiful and full of nature that would be perfect for the fae to play in!
ReplyDeleteIn GA, we have the Silver Comet trail running though the area. Off one of the sidetracks in the woods is this old ruin. I think it was from the Civil War. But I think it looks beautiful and would really suffice to a gateway of some kind!
ReplyDeleteNot many places in our world left for the Fae to keep Gateways, they've all been turned into parking lots. So now they build them in the minds & imaginations of writers like Lesley, giving us leave to enter their world each and every time we open a book and read. They allow us to become part of their worlds for the little time we are inside the book.

Being a New Yorker I always found Grand Central Terminal a special place and the Brooklyn Bridge. In the Hudson Valley where I now live I'd pick Bannerman's Castle, it's on its own island.

Hmm a place that could be a gateway, huh? Well there is this old grandfather house in my clock, that's been passed down for generations..yet still works perfectly. When I was little I used to imagine opening up the glass door of it, and stepping inside and entering another world. Haha strange I know, but I automatically thought of that!
