Contest: Win a copy of Little Black Lies by Tish Cohen! CLOSED

I loved LITTLE BLACK LIES so much and want to share it with a lucky reader of The Hiding Spot!

A Quick Summary:
Sara Black is tiptoeing across a fraying tightrope.

As the new eleventh grader at Anton High–the most elite public school in the country–she sticks out like an old VW bus in a parking lot full of shiny BMWs. But being the new kid also brings a certain advantageous anonymity.
In Anton High’s world of privilege, intelligence, and wealth, Sara can escape her family’s tarnished past and become whomever she wants.
And what’s the harm in telling a few little black lies when it can lead to popularity? That is, until another it girl at Anton becomes jealous of Sara’s social climbing.
With her balance evaporating, one small push could bring Sara crashing down.

Contest Rules:
1. You must be a follower of The Hiding Spot! (Follower widget is in left sidebar!)
2. You must leave your email address or some type of contact info in the comments!
3. You must answer the following prompt:

Tell me about a time when you lied or were lied to. Can be something trivial or deeper...

For extra entries (optional):
+2 comment on my review of LITTLE BLACK LIES, here!
+2 for already being a follower (make sure to mention!)
+2 for linking (Twitter, Sidebar, Post, FB, etc) (Up to +8 in links)
+2 follow me on Twitter (@thehidingspot) (Icon in left sidebar to follow!)

PLEASE make sure that you fulfill the requirements/rules above! Thank you! :)

This contest is open internationally! One winner will receive (1) ARC of Little Black Lies!

The contest will end Sunday, November 1st @ Midnight (my time). CLOSED!

Good luck!

  1. Oh God, I was lied to all the time throughout my private and public school careers. I obviously did not have good taste in friends. After a 10 year friendship, I learned that my best friend, who was basically family, had hardly once told me the truth.

  5. Hmm... one of the last times I told a mildly big lie was to my mum. I accidentally (I swear it was by accident!) smashed this glass door on a cupboard of hers when she wasn't home. I freaked out a little bit... so before she came back I pulled off the hinges from the cupboard and made it look like it had fallen off/come loose and fell. Well, she believed it luckily! But I still feel awful about it, I'll tell her one day... *prays she doesn't read blogs* LOL.

I think we all tell little white lies every day. We say "I'm great" when really we didn't have time to eat breakfast, we woke up late and we forgot our classwork.

Lied to....oh, I remember a love triangle, or rather pentagon, that blew out of proportion. I was the confidant of just about everyone, and everyone then got mad when I didn't share information they'd want to know, so then they spread lies about me and...well, in the end it sort of died out since I still wasn't going to tell. Ah well, sorry. Boring story.

  13. Oh my jesus, I'm a compulsive liar. I cannot think of a day where I did not fib a bit to someone to make things more interesting. Not because I like to lie, it's more out of boredom...you know, my school is so drab and grey and everyone is so unhappy all the time, I figure it's my duty to liven things up a bit. There was this one time I told some girls in my English class there was a streaker running through the football field the previous period. Good times.

  14. I hate being lied to, especially when we both know that I *know*... that drives me nuts. A woman that I was babysitting for kept lying to me. She had talked about wanting to move, so I asked her just to give me a heads up so I would know and could plan accordingly. She said sure; one morning, one of the kids starts talking about his "room in the new house". I asked her about it and she acted like he was just talking about "if" they move, but that they definitely weren't, but after that the kids kept whispering in the mornings, and one said, "Dad said we're not allowed to say 'house!'" and she looked at me funny. Then I came in the house one night and there were moving boxes. She said, yes, they were moving, but it wouldn't be for a while, 2 months at least; they were just putting things in storage. Later that week she left a note out for me saying it was my last night. I'm not an idiot, so don't be a lying bitch.

Hmm, now that that's off my chest...

I was lied to so many times...One of the funniest (maybe that's the wrong word) was in high school. A friend kept assuring all of us that the rumours about her were lies and that she was still a virgin. Trusting souls that we were, we believed her and kept defending her....until we learned that she was pregnant...

  16. I remember one incident when I was lied to. I quite liked this guy and his best friend told me that he hated me. After that I was so upset that I stopped talking to the guy because he 'hated' me. A couple of months later I found out that his best friend had lied to me and that he had in fact liked me back. By then I had moved on.

As for lying, I try really hard not to do it (mainly because I'm a terrible liar so there's really no point). But my ex boyfriend used to lie to me a lot so he could hang out with this idiot friend of his behind my back. And the mystery of why I dumped him is solved...

    * I lied just about 20 minutes ago when I told my sister that mom called and told me to her to bath the dog. Mom called, but only said to bath the dog, as in, one of us. I'm busy, plus I bathed the dog last time, so I told my sister that mom said "her" not "one of us" to bath the dog, knowing that she wouldn't do it unless mom told her directly.

  25. Woah, I thought I already entered this. I guess not. Thats weird, I really want to read this, and didnt think I would pass up a chance to get it. :)

    Hmmm, when have I lied?
Well, if its white lies, then *cough, cough* almost everyday (?)*insert diabolical laugh here* not big ones, just the things like, do you like my shoes? ugh, sure. you know. Besides that honesty is my policy:)

I'm instead going to go with when I was lied to. (Its really stupid too) Well, this year as Homecoming was coming up me and my 4 bffs all said we would go together before&after dance. Then one of my friends dropped out, and honestly all was good. Then my second friend was claiming "my mom told me I had to go to another party, I cant go with you guys". Uhm, I dont know if she realized that I've known her mom forever and she would never say anything like that. But still everything was cool. Then I hear from another friend (not mentioned before) that the "mom" friend told her that she just really didnt want to go with us anymore. Woah, that was like a slap to the face, Also that started drama from my other (still-going) friends and her. Ugh, I hate drama! It makes my life suckish. I just stay out of it.
    *sorry for the extreme length*

I used to LOVE to lie, and I would always lie about the dumbest thing. The most notable not dumb thing, though, was that I used to be a HUGE drinker in high school (I actually don't drink at all anymore), and I lied to everyone about it. Most people in my life, friends included, had no idea that I had a huge affection for rum and colt 45.

Tell me about a time when you lied or were lied to.- Oh boy here we go, me and my ex were together for almost a year and all of a sudden he decided to break it off. He claimed it wasn't another girl, but I'm not stupid. The next day I looked on his myspace and some girl was leaving him comments saying "I miss you, when am I gonna see you?" well obviously I was lied to! lol
