Entering is simple, just fill out this form and answer the following question in the comments! You must do both of these things to win!

In Lesley Livingston's novels, Central Park is a gateway to the faery realm. Tell me about a place that you think could be a gateway. You can name a specific place or describe a type of place or answer the question however you like. Have fun!

  1. I think that the Golden Gate bridge is also a gateway to the Faery realm. If you go through the gate the right way, you will end up in the *mystical* land of faery realm! : )

  2. There's a park right by the University in my town that's secluded and lovely and I think that could be a gateway. :)

  3. Ooh! I really want to read this book!
By where I live, there's this storage place for unused sewer tubes. They are huge and clean and amazing, and they seem so magical to me. I am SURE that they are a gateway to the faery realm!

  4. In New Orleans we have a park similar but not as grande as Central Park, called City Park. City Park was under water during Katrina, but it is now being brought back to life. Luckily all the old oaks survived and they are what makes the park what it is. It is the perfect place for fairies.

  5. I have no clue where a place that would be a gateway near me would be. Possibly in this theater by me, in the baasement there's a tunnel that goes under or river - or so they SAY!

  6. There is a place where my friends and I go rock climbing called Niagara Glen near Niagara Falls in Ontario. It's beautiful and tucked away near the falls. We always joke around that it is a magical faerie land! :)

  7. I think there's a portal in the Downtown LA Library. I always feel a special vibe in LA. The building is relatively old and has always held magic for me. :)

  11. A good gateway umm... Well in Montreal we have this mountain right in the middle of town called Mont Royal, and it's actually a very old estinguish volcano. I guess it could be a very kool gateway, and a place of power =)

    Thanks for the contest!

Thank you for the opportunity to win!
I think a great gateway would be under Niagra Falls. That cave/tunnel is a magical place.

  14. A great place to hide a gateway would be the Florida Everglades, although you'd have to watch out for the gators.

  15. I think a great place would be my own backyard. I live in the country and there are woods behind my house, and I've always felt like something magical could happen there.

  16. Mirrors. Without a doubt. They lead *somewhere* I know it.

  17. I think Golden Gate park or even the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco would be a great place for a gateway to another world

  18. Please enter me.

A huge library would be a great gateway. You would have to go all the way to the back, where the reference section is, and pull on a particular book to access the gateway.

  19. I, from personal experience think a place I used to play as a teenager could be a gateway. My friends and I would go down and play at a stream and there was an island in the middle of it. It was all natural, and magickal. Totally think that could be a gateway.

  20. I think rainbows would be the perfect gateway to the faery realm. I've always thought that there was something magical about them. :D

  22. Hmmm...I would go with Stonehenge. What else could it be for? Lol

  23. This is going to sound utterly nerdy of me, but I'm okay with that. Around Alpena, Michigan there is a karst formation called an "earth crack". I went into it about 5 years ago. The temperature is about 40 degrees cooler than the air around it. It's just a really cool place and I could sooooo see it being a portal.

  24. I think that there could be a gateway in the woods behind my best friend's house. It's so pretty and secluded back there, especially in winter. I'll have to check it out more closely ;)

  25. Ooh! My friend has a backyard that leads to the woods and during the day, we would go there and just hang out. It also feels peaceful there because of the view of the lake nearby :) I like it there.

  26. I think under the Eiffel Tower would make a great gateway. I love this cover, It's so beautiful. I want to read this so bad, but the Borders near me doesn't have it yet. So please enter me to win.

When I was a kid we lived in the country and we had this little fort that was really just a bunch of rocks stacked up so we could sit down and couldn't be seen from the house, but I always thought those woods were magical so I can a gateway being tucked into a small cave overgrown with vines and moss... very mystical lol...

  33. I think a gateway could be in this crazy cave thingy on the beach nearish my house. It's really big and there is a rock shaped like a turtle near it, so I know something must be going down there.

  34. There was this place in my grandparents' pasture with great steps of flat stone that I always thought had to lead to somewhere supernatural. Sadly, they never did. :-)

  35. I think that the River THames in London would be a good portal.
Just jump off Blackfriars Bridge and you'll be transported into another place. Awesome!

  37. I would have to say the the Bernheim Forest here in Kentucky. It is beautiful and full of nature that would be perfect for the fae to play in!

  38. In GA, we have the Silver Comet trail running though the area. Off one of the sidetracks in the woods is this old ruin. I think it was from the Civil War. But I think it looks beautiful and would really suffice to a gateway of some kind!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Not many places in our world left for the Fae to keep Gateways, they've all been turned into parking lots. So now they build them in the minds & imaginations of writers like Lesley, giving us leave to enter their world each and every time we open a book and read. They allow us to become part of their worlds for the little time we are inside the book.
In this way they are immortal, as long as there is someone reading about them, they live.

  41. Being a New Yorker I always found Grand Central Terminal a special place and the Brooklyn Bridge. In the Hudson Valley where I now live I'd pick Bannerman's Castle, it's on its own island.

  42. Hmm a place that could be a gateway, huh? Well there is this old grandfather house in my clock, that's been passed down for generations..yet still works perfectly. When I was little I used to imagine opening up the glass door of it, and stepping inside and entering another world. Haha strange I know, but I automatically thought of that!
